Monetize Yourself

Hello world!

This is my second attempt at using WordPress, but I’m still not very competent yet, so please be patient with me.

My name is Amanda, and perhaps 10 years ago, I was exposed to a strange idea:

You don’t have to have a job.

If you’d asked me while I was in high school, I’d've said that jobs were a necessary evil.  Sure, no one likes them, but you have to get money somehow.  And no one ever mentioned that there are ways to get money besides jobs.  (Some half-wit is going to make comments about theft and fraud here, but actually being a burglar is really just another (less legal) job.  You still have to spend around 40 hours a week deciding who to rob, casing the joint, fencing the merchandise, and so on.  The idea I had involved not working 40 hours/week.)

Later I discovered Steve Pavlina’s Blog, and learned the word “monetization”.  To use something of value to make money.

So for the last 10 years I’ve been trying to figure out how to monetize myself in ways other than selling my life at an hourly rate.  And I think I’m kind of getting there.  But it’s been a lot of trial and error, and work, and failure.  So I thought I might share my trials and tribulations so others can see how it goes.
